During our work, we have created, scribbled and noted common phrases and words which indicate a personal assumption — often at odds with the customer.

These are red flag words.

I hate…

Everyone already…

Nobody I know…

Do people still…

Most people…

My mom would…

I read somewhere…

Red flags words need:

  1. clarification
  2. discussion among the group
  3. to be restated from a customer perspective

If you hear a red flag word, you are not hearing your customer.
